QUESTIONNAIRE DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION TO MEASURE
KNOWLEDGE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS IN ISLAND CITY COMMUNITIES

ABSTRACT
Antibiotics are drugs used for diseases caused by bacteria. The relatively high use of
antibiotics causes various problems and a global threat to health regarding antibiotic
resistance. Multiple studies have found that about 40-62% of antibiotics are misused,
among others, for diseases that do not require antibiotics. The results of research
conducted by WHO from 12 countries, including Indonesia, as many as 53-62%
stopped using antibiotics if they felt they had recovered. This study aimed to develop
and validate a questionnaire to measure knowledge of the use of antibiotics in island
communities, especially in Pangkalpinang City. The research was conducted in
Pangkalpinang City from May to June 2022. This study involved ten expert panels and
thirty people from Pangkalpinang City. The sampling technique was cluster sampling
and tested the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The content validity test
involves a panel of experts with a qualitative approach, namely the expert panel
assessment and quantitative with the items content validity index (I-CVI) value. The
content validity test was carried out in two rounds with an I-CVI value of 0.94 so that
the questionnaire was declared valid with 42 statement items. Then the validity and
reliability tests involved 30 people in Pangkalpinang City. Thirty-nine accurate
statements were obtained in the validity test, and the reliability test received a KR
value of 0.8. Questionnaires can be used to measure the level of knowledge of the use
of antibiotics in cities and communities on the island
